Abstract

The structure in the community needs to be altered in such a way that traffic and transportation will no longer be a handicap for a free, pleasant and safe life for a large percentage of the population. Governments need the advice of active, well informed specialists to guide them in preventing pedestrian accidents. Pedestrian associations can give a positive contribution towards restoring the balance between men and machines, between mobility and congestion and thus actively promote accident prevention.
