Abstract

Drivers under age 25, especially new ones, have above average crash and injury rates. This paper probes the types of crashes where young drivers are over-represented. Drivers with less driving experience are involved in a higher percentage of single vehicle and turning crashes. Speed, swerving, skidding, spinning and search are identified as contributing crash factors. (A)
