Abstract

A total of 19000 motor carriers were surveyed from 1970 through 1972 in Oklahoma. Data collected for each motor carrier were commodities aboard, directions of movement, state of motor carrier registration, body styles of units, and time of day passing. A review of federal, state and local hazardous materials controls was also conducted. The survey indicated that 10% of all commodities on motor carriers represented hazardous materials.
