Abstract

The paper reports about the installation of a safety organization within the CHAUFFEUR project as a platform for the safety process to obtain a reliable and safe tow-bar system. The safety process is defined and explained. An essential part of the safety process is the safety requirements specification document based on a preliminary hazard analysis. The analysis is done using the fault tree method. The expected failure probability over time of the tow-bar system is calculated and importance analyses are done in order to find safety critical components and get the necessary information, where the system must be improved.
