Twenty paved road dust samples were collected in Anshan, Liaoning province, China, and measured for chemical composition. Si, Ca, OC and are abundant constituents. Calculated crustal matter concentrations were compared with the measured mass concentrations, and variance between crustal matter and paved road dust in chemical composition was analyzed, showing vehicular exhaust or some industrial emissions may influence the profile of paved road dust. In addition, principal component analysis indicated major sources of paved road dust might be crustal source, combustion source, iron andsteel making and secondary aerosol.
