`Children and roads : a safer way', issued in May 1990 set out the Department's strategy for tackling injuries to children in road accidents. This report updates development on action to reduce child road casualties since the second progress report was issued in July 1992. Annex A lists the recommendations set out in the policy document `Children and roads : a safer way' and the progress made towards implementation as at July 1994. The initiative has continued to gain momentum, with growing support at national and local level from the many agencies and organisations with an interest in child safety, both in the public and private sector.
