Abstract

There has been a substantial increase in the purchase and use of child car seats in Calgary. However, as use rates have increased, the misuse problem has become a serious concern. Three major problems have been identified (1) at least 50% of children are not adequately protected in motor vehicles (2) there is a decrease in protection level with increasing age of the child and (3) there are difficulties in securing children properly in car seats.
