In this paper children's accident data are presented. These data were drawn from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) International Road Traffic and Accident Database (IRTAD), completed with data on separate countries drawn from other sources. Gender differences in accidents reveal important factors in traffic safety such as exposure, vulnerability, skills, and other personality factors. Finally, some successful safety measures are presented, for instance: the promotion of the proper use of child restraints, and traffic calming in residential areas.
