Abstract

The Automatic Interaction Detector (AID) program was run on data from the Michigan Fatal File for each year from 1966 through 1969, To determine the factors most strongly (and most weakly) associated with drinking while driving, the AID algorithm successively split the data into whichever two groups differed most noticeably in their ratio of drinking to non-drinking drivers.
