Abstract

The simultaneous-contrast effect consists of two components. One, comprising the main effect involves interactions in a narrow zone surrounding the test field, whereas the other seems to be independent of distance. The experimental paradigm used for measuring simultaneous contrast, can also be used for evaluating the spatial distribution of stray light. It was thus possible to define better the so-called glare function, and hence, the foveal point-spread function.
