Abstract

Formal citizen participation in prominent public programs is chronologically reviewed. The programs start with public housing followed by urban renewal and later, model city programming. A case is described where the direction of a road was changed as the result of a public hearing. An instance of citizen reaction which is expected to change plans in Mercer County is described. An informal discussion is added.
