This article presents CityCompanion, a product offered by DaimlerChrysler Services Mobility Management GmbH. CityCompanion is a multi-channel (web, wap, sms, voice), location-based service centered to the information needs of business travelers, traveling to large cities. To cover the information needs of the target group, the product encompasses four categories of services, namely City Highlights, City Navigation, City Organizer and City Services. A particular feature of this product that significantly contributes to convenience and efficiency in travel planning and travel management in a city, is that the information about locations and up to date events (e.g. meetings, movies, gas stations, culture and dining) is intelligently supplemented with mobility information (parking, routing, maps and traffic information) related to those locations. With City Organizer an innovative and unique service for travel organization, prior the trip the user can plan on the web his business dates and locations together with leisure activities recommended through City Highlights. When on the move the day's plan can be accessed on WAP-enabled devices and in the near future by in-car navigation systems.
