Abstract

A classification is made of types of injury that occur on the road. Head-and chest injuries, and multiple injuries which are very frequent (car / pedestrian collisions, car occupants, motor cyclists). The dominant features of road accidents are: severity of injury, and multiplicity of injury. Recommendations for diagnoses and medical treatment are given. The needs of special accident departments in hospitals, and comprehensive schemes of accident treatment are pointed out.
