Abstract

This paper considers the elements of driver therapy, used, mostly in Germany, as a means of rehabilitating drivers convicted of traffic offences who have lost their licence. The aim is to reduce the probability of future offences. Therapy is based on the individual's case history and includes tests of psychophysical performance, client knowledge and personality, and medical indications. Various methods are used to verify the result of changing the client's behaviour patterns and the treatment is checkable both during therapy and in the results gained. Evaluation criteria are completion of the course, internal quality control, positive medical-psychological examination, and successful multi-step evaluation over a period of three years, including the client's road traffic probation period.
