Abstract

Real-time traffic information has been recognized as an important element of traffic control. ADAC is trying to improve the quality of traffic messages by establishing itself as content owner as well as by collecting its own information through ADAC "jambusters", and also by extending its market position as content provider and shortening the information chain from incident detection to the road user. ADAC has developed the new traffic database ADAC-VIA. This database automatically integrates traffic information from various content owner sources (police, ADAC "jambusters", ERIC etc.), processes them and forwards them to ADAC members, publicity and other service providers in several formats (as text, coded message or digital map format).
