Abstract

Retroreflective markings on clothing and carried articles can enhance the safety of pedestrians in traffic at night, and the use of colour can contribute to the appeal of such markings. Based on experimental work on conspicuity judgment of chromatic versus achromatic markings, conspicuity is interpreted in terms of colour difference from black in uniform colour space. (A)
