Abstract

Rejseplanen and the Danish Road Directorate (DRD) have initiated a cooperation to show car drivers that sometimes it is faster to use public transportation (PT) thereby shifting traffic from road to PT and to offer a better service to travelers. To show this, they are developing a comodal planner which covers PT, cars and Park & Ride. The suggested routes will be compared on travel time, costs and environmental impact. Car routes will use realistic travel times, also in rush hours. These were gathered by DRD through a probe car project using GPS. A prototype planner is currently running and the planner is expected to be in full operation by autumn 2009.
