Abstract

For many years more and more signal-controlled intersections with a priority system for public transport vehicles have been installed in Duisberg. In the beginning the quality had not been surveyed sufficiently but it is now possible to eliminate this lack by using more powerful interfaces between the intersection controller and the traffic control centre. This does not only allow a continuous surveillance of all components concerning the priority system but is also the base for more powerful tools for a more detailed analysis of the intersection control. After a complex analysis the tool can also compute new control parameter sets and transmit these updated sets back to the intersection to improve local traffic control.
