Abstract

The report deals with documented studies of front-tire loading on 576 heavy-duty commercial vehicles. It also evaluates the causes of 61 accidents involving front-tire failures occuring between Jan, 1 and March 31, 1972 inclusively. The report examines such factors as overloading versus under-inflation, tubeless versus tube-type, the relation of tread pattern depth and tire miles to failure.
