Abstract

This paper presents some of the findings of the EuroBus Project, concerning the design of advanced and "standardised" terminals for public transport passenger information in Europe. The project objectives are twofold: (i) to develop and test prototype terminals in pilot cities (Madrid, Marseille, Thessaloniki, Birmingham); and (ii) to specify requirements for this kind of computer aid. The EuroBus prototypes address a set of requirements defined in common, particularly at the level of the external layer perceived by the user. This experience has led to "recommendations for the design of a man-machine interface (MMI) in the field of passenger information", now being tentatively standardised by the Input task force. (A)
