Communicating with John and Jane Q. Public : competition identifies successful models for conveying transportation concepts.

Abstract

To underscore the importance of communicating transportation concepts clearly to the public, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Planning and Environment Group sponsored a competition to identify the top methods and models for effectively reaching nontechnical audiences. This article contains descriptions of and images from the winning entries in the five media categories, demonstrating a wide range of creativity and inspiration. Thefive media categories are videos, games and tools, graphics, books and booklets, and CD-ROMs and Websites. An insert with this article lists the authors of the award-winning projects.
