Abstract

The architectural aspects of an integrated communication and control system are considered, within an IVHS (Intelligent Vehicle Highway System) environment. The structure of the communication network and of the control system are viewed jointly, and the impact on control capabilities of new telecommunications infrastructures and technologies is examined. In this framework, a cellular architecture for voice and data packet communication is defined, together with the corresponding multiple access technique. Simulation results are presented and discussed. (A)
