Abstract

The twelfth in a series of national surveys on community attitudes to road safety was conducted in May/June 1999 on behalf of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau. This report contains a summary of results from the survey and, where appropriate, provides comparative findings in relation to previous surveys. Issues examined include: perceived causes of road crashes, exposure to random breath testing, attitudes to speed, perceptions of police enforcement, reported usage of seat belts, and involvement in road crashes.
