Abstract

Community transport aims to improve the mobility of the transport disadvantaged: a wide cross section of the community including those on very low incomes, the elderly, those with physical or intellectual disabilities, young children, and others who for various reasons are restricted in their ability to use conventional public transport. Services are generally planned and implemented at the community level, usually by local councils or community organisations and the expertise of providers may lie more in needs assessment than in transport service delivery.
