Abstract

In comparison with petrol cars, diesel cars are taxed more by the Dutch government due to their more pollutant emissions. However, a diesel car is eventually cheaper for anyone who travels a lot of kilometres. This study contains the test results of six compact diesel cars. Various aspects were taken into account, for instance, price, comfort, fuel consumption, emissions, and safety. In addition, a calculation method is included to determine whether a diesel car might be financially interesting for a private driver.
