Abstract

In this paper the authors investigate the concentration of alcohol in breath and venous blood as function of time in various situations (drinking on an empty stomach, on a full stomach and repeated drinking). Samples were taken from the subjects at half hour intervals after the administration of 0.8g alcohol per kg body weight. The resulting curves show similar patterns for breath and blood samples with generally a slightly higher concentration in the breath. The pharmakokinetic parameters of the relevant curves are compared. The authors provide explanations for the patterns seen.
