Abstract

An extensive programme of pedestrian accident reconstruction was made within the framework of the joint biomechanical research project (kob). the results of these reconstructions showed differences in kinematics between cadavers and dummies. Recently new more humanlike side impact dummies were developed, and these dummies would have a more realistic kinematic in car against pedestrian impacts. Three of these new side impacts were tested in the reconstructions of three selected pedestrian accidents of the kob programme, which were previously reconstructed with part 572 dummy and cadavers. The results of these tests are analyzed.
