Abstract

This report is a comparison between the different type of vehicle detectors and associated equipment. It covers practically all of the presence and motion detectors either being sold commercially or actively researched at this time, and includes radar detectors, ultrasonic detectors, induction-loop detectors, magnetic-gradient detectors, pressure-sensitive detectors, and magnetometers. The theoretical and practical aspects of the different classes of detectors are presented.
