Abstract

The relative dummy responses of 30 deg and 0 deg barrier tests are compared.Details are given of the avergae response of six vehicles (12 dummies) in the two test conditions. The test speed was 35 mph. From the test data, it is obvious that a 30 deg test is essentially no requirement. To use this oblique test to evaluate safety performance of present production vehicles would present a very significant step toward reducing safety levels that exist in today's vehicle fleet.
