A comparison of direct and indirect methods for determining accident potential.

Abstract

Methods of determining accident potential of a highway site are classified into direct and indirect methods, and the advantages and disadvantages of each are discussed. It is concluded that no advantage is gained in using the indirect approach as it relies indirectly on accident statistics.
