Abstract

In order to obtain a greater understanding of how dual mode transportation systems compare in effectiveness to other forms of urban transportation, a study was done to evaluate the service, costs, and impacts of several urban-wide transportation alternatives. Seven systems were evaluated: highway (with limited bus), comprehensive bus, exclusive bus, rail rapid, dial-a-ride, dual mode, and PRT.
