Abstract

The design of traffic management centers (TMCs) must reflect the varying needs of each jurisdiction. This 2nd feature article in a series on Seattle, Washington, focuses on new TMCs in Seattle, Redmond, and Renton. The factors that determined how the final size, location, and appearance of TMCs were shaped, not only by functional needs but also by political, financial, and personal influences, are described.
