Abstract

This study was designed to test the hypothesis that deep lung breath is in equilibrium with blood plasma instead of whole blood. If this hypothesis was true then breath should correlate more closely with blood plasma than it does with whole blood. Results indicate that breath is not as efficient in predicting plasma alcohol concentrations as it is in predicting blood alcohol concentrations.
