Abstract

In this paper, congestion definitions of several types of freeway are analysed for providing useful traffic information through a psychological analysis of drivers' congestion consciousness. The types of freeway analysed are three innercity expressways in Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo area and one intercity freeway in Nagoya area. In the previous paper, congestion on the innercity expressway and the intercity freeway in Nagoya area have been defined by using both average speed and it's duration time on the basis of drivers' consciousness. Further investigations for defining congestion in the other areas, Osaka and Tokyo, were done. In this paper, the results on three innercity expressways and one intercity freeway are analysed and compared. The comparisons show adequacy of the method defining congestion and several deference of drivers' congestion consciousness. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
