Abstract

Due to the increasing demand for more houses the municipality of Dordrecht is looking for new locations for residential development. One of these extensions is the Buitenstad for circa 4500 houses. The new area should have its own identity with its own provisions. The new area is divided in three by the existing dikes and the provincial high road. One part is not alone located in the Buitenstad but also in the Corridor, a green zone. This report shows the layout of this particular area. Six hundred houses are planned, slow traffic has priority, cars are partly restricted, a lot of open space is planned, a good infrastructure is implemented, and there will be good public transport connections with the other parts of the city.
