Abstract

A brief historical background to three aspects of roading in New Zealand- administration, technology, and training is given.Changes now occurring in these fields, which prompt reconsideration of past systems and practices, are described.Suggestions are made regarding the establishment and maintenance of adequately competent staff for roading matters taking into account the possible emerging authority structures.
