Abstract

The literature was searched and organizations contacted for information on the effects of highway safety countermeasures in the areas of driver proportion, driver regulation, motor vehicle regulation, pedestrian safety, post-crash operations and public information. The material obtined was reviewed for quantitative information. Studies found to contain such information relevant to cost- effectiveness studies were synopsized. Also, the relevant information for each program area was synopsized. A bibliography contains all material identified.
