Abstract

This paper briefly presents the Comprehensive Transit Control System (CTCS) used by the Transportation Bureau of Tokyo, Japan. The CTCS is based on digital two-way transmissions, using inductive communication systems between the bus and the depot through wayside equipment for automatic data collection. This system consists of an operations Control System and an Office Management System. Brief details of the systems architecture and the data acquisition methods are presented. Some of the data collected are illustrated. This includes bus movements and average journey time, and statistics of passengers using the system.
