Abstract

The task of custom designing traffic guide signs depends upon the application of numerous spacing and rules. Even though each sign legend is different, the processes followed in the design of the signs are similar. These processes can be time consuming, repetitive, and laborious: the electronic digital computer is ideal in performing tasks of this nature. Because repetitive task can be done rapidly and with an extremely high degree of accuracy by a computer, a project was undertaken to custom design traffic guide signs by means of a digital computer program. This paper describes that program.
