Abstract

In 1989 the ERGA- Passive Safety ad- hoc group finished a Draft Directive on the protection of car occupants in side- impact collisions. The document describes a 90 degree full- scale test for EC- type approval purpose. To assess injury the European Side Impact Dummy (EUROSID) is proposed. The objective of the presented model is to contribute to the insight in the dynamic behaviour of and the injury suffered by an occupant in a side- impact collision. The paper describes the set- up of the dummy database and compares simulations with test results.
