Abstract

Articulated multi-body mechanical model of human body is used as a tool to investigate injury mechanism during a car crash event. Dynamic response of the proposed multi-body system is calculated for two sets of human body mechanical parameters. First set of mechanical parameters is generated by GEBOD (GEnerator of BOdy Data) from Wright Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) and in this research represents standard dummy. The second set of mechanical parameters was obtained from measurements of human body parts conducted on real human corpses. On the basis of both dynamic responses some injury criteria are calculated and discussed.
