In 1972, in one French administrative area an experiment was run, designed to measure the influence, on the mass of road users, of the ostentations and systematic use of safety belts by a selected group of motorists. A sample of 4153 drivers were approached and asked to participate. For each driver accepting a certain number of details were noted: age, sex, profession. A before and after analysis was made to measure the influence of the experiment. Results show a significant increase in safety belt wearing.
