Abstract

Within the general pattern of PROMETHEUS project, Renault and Compiegne University studied the feasibility of a car Transversal Aiding System: Lane Keeping (LK). From a first "technical" prototype, LK could be tested in different real driving situations. Its interactions with the drivers and the traffic environment have been studied on different road types. The knowledge acquired about the drivers trajectories management was used to improve relations between "inputs" and "outputs" of the Lane Keeping system. (A)
