Abstract

This study has sought to gain greater understanding of driver control processes during overtaking and passing to determine why guidance and control errors occur, and how they can be avoided to reduce the hazards associated with passing. The study included the development of an operational model for the driver-vehicle-roadway system which uses feedback control theory.
