Abstract

This presentation will provide an overview of several pooled fund studies being led by the Iowa Department of Transportation and conducted at Iowa State University: (1) Material and Construction Optimization for the Prevention of Premature PCC Pavement Distress (FHWA, 17 state DOTs, private industry); (2) Deicer Scaling Resistance of Concrete Pavements, Bridge Decks, and Other Structures Containing Slag Cement (FHWA, 7 state DOTs, Slag Cement Association); (3) Self-Consolidating Concrete Applications for Slip-Form Paving (FHWA, 4 state DOTs, private industry); (4) Development of Performance Properties of Ternary Mixes; and (5) PCC Surface Characteristics: Tire-Pavement Noise Program Part 3--Innovative Solutions/Current Practices
