Abstract

The aim of the conference - debate was to assemble the contributions submitted by the specialists and the data supplied by several countries, and to present to the general road construction engineer an objective survey of the varying tendencies which exist throughout the world regarding the control of road works. A critical study was made of these tendencies so as to establish certain lines of conduct. The theme of control of highway works being very wide, the discussion was directed towards a limited number of points: (a) classification of pavements; (b) relationships between the clients/contractor; (c) global quality index; (d) organisation of control; (e) particular tests; (f) rapid tests - continuous tests - equipment control. For the covering abstract, see IRRD abstract no 104484.
