Abstract

Three experiments are described in which the application of a subjective conflict observation method is studied. Two laboratory experiments show that untrained observators can judge traffic conflicts reliably. A field experiment shows that this conclusion can also be generalised to the practice. The relationship between the characteristics of the junction and traffic and the number of conflicts in the practice experiment are described in detail.
