Abstract

There are different kinds of illnesses, handicaps and ageing symptoms which cause a loss of function by which it is more difficult to fulfil the driving task correctly. However, there are a lot of possibilities to adapt the behaviour and to compensate the loss of function. It is recommended to make the mention of loss of function for an examination on driving dependent on the illness, handicap and biological ageing and not from the age. A provisional age limit by which a medical examination for the renewal of a driving licence is mandatory should be at the age of 70 instead of 60.
