Abstract

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2151 includes 12 papers that explore correlating bid price with the number of bidders, quantifying savings for rapid bridge construction technique, sliding-scale contingency for project development process, effects of project cost reduction methods, roadway construction sustainability impacts, performance-based contractor prequalification, coordination of design contract with preconstruction service contract, and optimization of equity capital structure in public-private partnership contracts. This issue of the TRR also examines duration of design-build procurement effect on performance of transportation projects, optimum sample size for percent-within-limits specifications, statistical applications and stochastic analysis for performance-based specification of asphalt quality assurance, and probabilistic performance-related specifications methodology based on the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide.
