Abstract

In the Touhoku Regional Construction Bureau, the Ministry of Construction, various road management on database is filed and accumulated, and the information is utilized by freely linking with other databases such as digital road maps. Thus the road management system has partially started to operate, which jointly owns various information required for road management and helps to improve efficiency of road maintenance. Although each system functions well for its own purpose, it requires a rather complicated procedure to integrate the whole system. Therefore, the efficient and advanced management cannot be achieved as a whole. Based on this current situation, `system standardization', `networking' and `integrated management of information system' have been studied in order to tackle the present problem and to construct the total intelligent system for road management.
